Meridian Lights up Main Street and Christmas Tree

The City of Meridian kicked off the Christmas season with a bang on November 30, 2018. And we at Boise Christmas Lights were there to cover it.

The annual Meridian Winter Lights Parade was large enough to shut down nearly all of Main Street in the city center, as dozens of lighted floats traversed down the parade route in front of thousands of fans. The route snaked back around 2nd Street for a few blocks, and all the floats, bands and even Santa himself were there to greet everyone along every last inch of the route. And believe us, there were people all up and down the entire route!

High school marching bands played classic Christmas tunes while marching, and there were a couple other floats with small local bands just jamming out and having a blast. Of course, lots of candy was passed out along the parade route.

A few local businesses also participated in the parade with their own decorative floats! They were full of lights, inflatables, and Christmas spirit. You could really tell all the kids and families there were having a great time, even though the temperature was a tad chilly.

Even some local churches participated in the parade, with nice reminders of the true reason for the season. There were so many different floats that we simply couldn't take pictures of all of them! You really just had to be there to enjoy them all.

The Main Stage for the event was right across the street from Generations Plaza, the home of Meridian's official Christmas Tree. After the parade ended, the audience was entertained by a couple of local musicians and dancers, who performed some nice numbers and dance routines. It really was a blast to see how much of an event this really was.

Of course, we were there to catch the Christmas Tree Lighting live on Facebook. And I'll tell you, this tree lighting went off with a real bang! (there must be something with Meridian and their love of fireworks...)

Meridian is the fastest growing city in the entire state of Idaho and they really have a lot for citizens to do in the city. Their Christmas celebrations have a lot to offer! Check out more information here: http://www.christmasinmeridian.org/
